Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, established in 1873 under the leadership of Reverend Jacob Fontaine, has a long and inspiring history rooted in faith, perseverance, and service. From its humble beginnings in the Williamson Creek settlement, the church overcame early hardships, including the destruction of its building by a flood, and continued to grow through the dedication of its leaders and members. In 1945, under Reverend S. A. Davis, the church moved to Austin and was renamed Mt. Zion Baptist Church, marking a new chapter of expansion and spiritual growth. This momentum continued under the leadership of Reverend G. V. Clark, who guided the congregation for over 50 years, overseeing the construction of new facilities, acquisition of multiple properties, and the development of community outreach programs.
