The Bridge Austin is Today’s Christian Talk with programming that impacts, informs, and inspires Austin and Central Texas.
About The Bridge: The Bridge Austin Owner and General Manager, Gene Bender, while still a student at the University of Texas, was part of the original team that launched Austin’s first Christian Radio station, KIXL 970 AM in 1976. From 1976 to 2006, the station grew in audience and reach featuring the country’s best Christian Communicators to Austin and Central Texas. Due to an ownership change, the frequency was sold in 2006, and the heritage Christian teaching and talk programming moved to 99.3 FM and 98.5 FM as “The Word.” In 2012 the frequencies were sold and The Word’s heritage Christian programming moved to 1490 AM.
In June of 2014 the Lord created an opportunity for Gene and Gayle Bender to enter into an ownership agreement for the purchase of KTXW 1120 AM. On June 15, 2014 KTXW went on the air as The Bridge 1120 AM, broadcasting with 5,600 watts reaching into 43 Central Texas Counties with nearly 3 million people. After being on the air for 3 years, the Lord opened the door for the addition of a new FM signal. In December 2018 the new Bridge FM went on the air at 101.1 FM covering the Austin and the surrounding area with a population of 1.5 million.
The mission of the Bridge Austin 101.1 FM and 1120 AM is to be a bridge of hope, encouraging listeners to grow in love and faith with God and one another through programming that impacts, informs, and inspires. The Bridge also equips you and your family with news and information from a Christian worldview, programs that provide financial insight and planning and programs that support healthy lifestyle choices.
Additionally, the Bridge simulcasts all of its programming on our affiliate station, KHSB FM 104.7 “The Bay” covering the Kingsland, Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay and the Hill Country..
